Syvret out of States

Jersey politician Senator Stuart Syvret has been kicked out of the States.

He's currently living in self imposed exile in London, and because he hasn't been in the island for the past six months he's automatically excluded from the States.

The former senator fled to the UK after being charged with motoring and data protection offences. He claims he can't get a fair trial in Jersey.

On Friday the Royal Court will fix a date for the by-election.

Senator Syvret was the longest serving senator and had been in the House for more than 20 years.
