Jersey's longest serving Senator is likely to be kicked out of the States later today.
Because Stuart Syvret hasn't been resident in the island during the past 6 months the rules state he automatically loses his seat. He's been living in London in self imposed exile. He's charged with motoring and data protection offences and fled the island because he claims he can't get a fair trial in Jersey.
He was elected as a deputy in 1990, as a senator in 1993, and topped the poll in 1999.
It's expected the Royal Court will fix a date for a by-election on Friday.
