Politician ‘harassed employees of States’

SENATOR Stuart Syvret is being investigated for allegedly harassing States employees, it was revealed today.

The States Employment Board has commissioned an independent investigation after a number of employees lodged complaints to the Health and Safety Inspectorate.

The staff claim that they have been harassed by the politician during the course of their duties. In a posting on his blog, the Senator has apparently admitted that he is the politician under investigation.

He wrote: ‘This hideous and appalling enemy of “The Jersey Way” is me. And I know for sure it’s me – because Jersey’s Chief Minister, Terry Le Sueur has written to me and told me so.’

In a statement released this morning, which does not identify Senator Syvret as the subject of the complaints, Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur said that all employers, including the States, had a responsibility to protect their staff.

The investigation will be carried out by UK Employment Tribunal chairman Christopher Chapman.
