BURNT bone fragments were discovered by the search team at Haut de la Garenne yesterday morning.

They were unearthed in the same area within the building where a fragment of a child’s skull was uncovered on 23 February.

Deputy police chief Lenny Harper said that the items had been found after the police sniffer dog showed a great deal of interest in the spot.

He said that it was too early to say if it was of any evidential value.

‘We have found some burnt bone fragments, but we will not know if they are of any significance to the inquiry until they have been sent away for examination,’ he said.
